You can even get disguises so that if you do something bad in the game, your opponent will get blamed. You can directly battle them and, if victorious, steal items or humiliate them by changing their names or giving them bad haircuts.
What makes Dokapon especially fun is the ability to interact with your opponents. Usually, the goal is to amass the most wealth, both in money and towns you control, but you can change the victory conditions.

There are also several special spaces that are shops, free items, or random encounters with the various characters that wander the boards. If you lose, usually you die, which means you need to take a random number of turns to recover before you can rejoin the game. If you defeat monsters, you will earn experience and money, which allow you to level up, improve your stats and buy more weapons, items and magic for use in the battles. Your success depends on two things: your stats and your choice of battle tactics. Much of what you will do involves fighting monsters. In the game, you roll a spinner and move the corresponding number of spaces around a board that is a map of Dokapon Kingdom. But what you have is a game that rewards strategic gameplay, has enough luck to even things out, and that provides lots of opportunities to be mean to friends and family members. The front cover is a bit deceiving, as it looks unbearably cute. It's a shame, because it's the freshest take on the "boardgame" genre that I've seen in a while. Dokapon Kingdom has been largely ignored by the video game press and by much of the Wii-playing public.
